Description
Interstellar Day in the Dafter Culture is celebrated on 20th of January. It started as a celebration of the rebirth of disco from the two individuals who helped in the French House Movement in the 90's now named the title of "The Saviors of Disco" from those in the underground dance scene. The duos name is Daft Punk (Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter) who brought interest to disco and its evolution to house and ultimately respect to the French music scene from other nations around the world for their musical creativity and rebirth of artistic view points on emphasizing being a proud creator. A interview done by Dimitri Ehrlich had a quote by Thomas Bangalter in making a point in his way of thinking of building a quality product as a priority over attention or money to make the best content possible without distractions. Thomas Bangalter "Everybody does it now, but Homeworkws completely done in a very small bedroom. It’s mixed on a small ghetto blaster. Selling millions of albums recorded that way is something new. I don’t know if it’s political, but it’s a way of thinking that record companies aren’t always going to dictate to artists. It’s like The Blair Witch Project [1999]. You might not have thought it was political when it was done, but it broke the whole system because you had three kids making a video with a camcorder that infiltrated multiplexes." Daft Punk had released their debut album Homework in 1997 on the 20th of January, which is the celebrated day of Interstellar Day. There are several names that people call Interstellar Day, such as: EDM Day, Daft Punk Day, and French House Day. The group had inspired many to reconsider the death of disco on "The Night Disco Died" of July 12th 1979 and view January 20th as "The Day Disco was Reborn". With the growing interest in electronic dance music around the world and the movement of Dafters there was an uncertainty to those in the rock scene that lived through the 1980s mixture of electronic and rock, which was absorbed into the electronic music remixes in the music scene of the 90's. The Night Disco Died The Night Disco Died was in the summer of 1979 where Disco was when all radio stations were changing to all disco genre formats. There was a particular disc jockey who was not happy and began destroying disco records on the air by dragging needles across records and place sound effects that would sound like explosives igniting. This would lead to a event of destroying records of Disco with a chant of "Disco Sucks", but what many didn't know was that the statement was toward specifically toward: african americans, latino americans, and lgbt americans. This would lead to post-disco genre and eventually the birth of House music. Celebratory Foods The foods that bring people together are the slow cooked stew of Pot-au-Feu as a way to dedicate the french inspiration of the Disco rebirth. The pot simmers away with its warmingly fragrant smell, root vegetables, and stewing meats that are well spiced. Different variations of Pot-au-Feu are eaten depending on which group a person wants to celebrate in the EDM world. The variants based on regions of france and also those eaten by dafters.... different variations have been developed from inspiration or similar dishes that are of traditional pot-au-feu: Albigeois Pot-au-feu, Chevreuil Pot-au-feu, Boeuf Pot-au-feu, Revigote pot-au-feu, Canard pot-au-feu, Linguica pot-au-feu, Salsiccia pot-au-feu, and Oignon pot-au-feu. Pot-au-feu allows for a sharing among any class or any level of life to meet under one pot of warmth that allow people to go through the hard times and move into the future. EDM EDM stands for electronic dance music and got its start from raving, night clubs, and music festivals from the 1980s to the 1990s. It is a umbrella term for house, techno, trance, drum and bass, and dubstep that separated into several movements of urban culture. The first was Disco urban culture (disco, house, boogie, funk, soul) that separated itself from Rave urban culture (synth pop, techno, trance, drum & bass, dubstep). Gamers and Otaku who were interested in the historical electronic music scenes went into Arcas urban culture (alternative rock, new wave, powerpop, chiptune). EDM is celebrated on this day as the beginning of the EDM movement that helped become the start of the development of Disco urban culture and Rave urban culture.
