History of Hawaii
Polynesian Voyagers arrived with their first canoes that settled on the land (300-800 A.D.) Later waves of settlers arrived by the the 12th century. Trading led to westernization influences and eventually the start of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Then came statehood with the overthrow of the Hawaiian thrown. Culture came back with a renaissance ensued with King David Kalakawa and later revisited by the Hawaii Music Industry. This created separation of identity by ethnicity, generation, and geography, with Hawaiian Cultural Studies, Local Cultural Studies, and Malahini Cultural Studies. |
