Aichi Miso Tonkatsu みそかつ
Miso Katsu is a specialty of Aichi and is a Japanese dish that is breaded, deep fried, and has miso sauce. Often times there is white rice, shredded cabbage, and a egg accompanying the plate of food. When miso tonkatsu is in a bowl it is a sort of "donburi" and when it is in a sanwich it is a "sando". Common sorts of miso katsu is: misokatsu pork loin, misokatsu large shrimp, misokatsu tofu, kushi misokatsu, misokatsu asparagus, misokatsu scallops, misokatsu crab croquette, and misokatsu oysters. In 1947, restaurant Yabaton’s would make pork katsu from high-quality pork and made sure it was large katsu. It became popular as it had both the typical katsu sauce a the sauce of miso on the same cutlet for the best of both. The mascot is a sumo pig that people are on the look out for as it is synonymous with a good miso katsu.
